GOLD COAST AFRICAN DANCE CLASSES
Let the African rhythms evoke your sense of Self Expression
Our African dance classes and workshops are designed to give your whole body a workout while you are having fun. You will learn African dance movements from West Africa, Nigerian Afro Beat and Caribbean Dancehall filled with fun, fitness and fire. Each session will help you build stamina, improve flexibility, strengthen your sense of rhythm and coordination. You will leave feeling re-energised, uplifted and inspired.
African drumming, dancing and body percussion is available for team building workshops, performances and private tuition.
We have regular classes and workshops for Adults beginner and intermediate levels and regularly hold workshops for kids and people with a disability, contact us for further details and enquiries.
Afro Groove classes are held on Thursdays in Nerang, Gold Coast.
Our Teachers
Diana Raczek
Diana Raczek is an experienced dancer and teacher. Trained in African dancing by master drummers and dancers Sam Okoth (Kenya) and Nii Armah (Ghana), she has performed with them in African drumming and dance group Papasa during 2005-2008 and continues to dance for Baala Baajo for special performances/workshops.
Diana has studied various styles of dance for over 20yrs and began teaching Hip Hop in 2000. Her love of dance and experience with instructing classes has led Diana to become a licensed Zumba® instructor in Level 1 and 2 for the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Diana has also spent many years working as a carer for young people and adults with a disablity and as a special education teachers aide . She has recently taught African dances in schools, disability organisations, local and Indigenous communities and GCCC special events.

Paul Bijkerk
Paul Bijkerk has been drumming and studying West African rhythms for 10 years and has had tuition from some of the best teachers in Australia and abroad. Paul has performed for many years with Gold Coast's African drumming group Budaka and Afro Pulse. Paul teaches traditional rhythms and fun percussive rhythms for beginners, kids and disability organisations.
